DESCRIPTION
Scientific Name: Aphidoletes aphidimyza
APHIDIMYZA are native predators targeting over 60 species of aphids. Males have long, hair-covered antennae, while Females have shorter, thicker antennae. To initiate mating, females fly to a spider web to wait for a male partner. Enhance the likelihood of successful mating by leaving any existing spider webs or using a stretched cotton ball to simulate them. Females deposit hundreds of bright orange eggs near aphid colonies. Within 2-3 days, the eggs hatch into orange, legless maggots, each measuring up to 3mm, and with a voracious appetite for 7-14 days. The larvae pupate inside a cocoon, emerging as adults to restart the cycle. APHIDIMYZA are shipped in the pupal (cocoon) form, nestled in moist vermiculite or sand.

TEMPERATURE
50-88°F

INTRODUCTION RATES
1 insect per 3 sq. ft., weekly, 2-3 times.

1,000-4,000 insects per acre, weekly, 1-3 times

It's important to note that these release rates serve as general guidelines and may vary based on the specific pest species, the crop or plant being treated, and level of infestation. Proper monitoring of the infestation and the subsequent effectiveness of the released beneficial insect population is crucial for determining the success of the biological control strategy.

STORAGE
Do not store adults. Store pupae at 50-60°F for no longer than 48 hours.

PRO TIPS:
Proper identification of the aphid species is important. Monitoring the crop closely and introducing beneficial insects early will help in control pest populations.

Pesticides, even wetting agents, and spreader-stickers may adversely affect beneficial insects' survival. Broad spectrum and systemic insecticides are toxic.

WHOLESALE
